Delmes & Zander present works by Brazilian artist, Jesuys Crystiano, for the first time in Berlin. The solo exhibition opened on April 28th, the first day of Gallery Weekend Berlin 2017. It continues until June 10th.Not much is known of Crystiano's background. In 2010, a German hotel owner came across his wall drawings in abandoned buildings in the city of Ilheus, Brazil. He took Crystiano in, encouraging and documenting his artistic output until the time of his death in 2015.
In this period, Crystiano produced a multitude of work, including charcoal and pencil drawings in various sizes, objects, collages and notebooks. In his work, Crystiano constructs a surreal world, inhabited by recurring figures - airplanes, fish, elephants, upside down objects and buildings, and uprooted tree trunks, to name a few.
The exhibition has been featured on TIP Berlin as a recommended event.
