Das Wunder in der Schuheinlegesohle.
Werke aus der Sammlung Prinzhorn

27.11.2014 - 06.04.2015
Eröffnung am Mittwoch, den 26. November 2014

Die Ausstellung wird anschließend, vom 30. April bis zum 15. August 2015, in der Sammlung Prinzhorn in Heidelberg gezeigt.

"Indeterminacy" at Large Glass, London

28 Nov. 2014 - 27 Feb. 2015
Opening 27 November, 6-9 pm

"The collection of works in the show, is inspired by the composer John Cage's recognition of indeterminacy as an important state in the making of art. Ian Hunt has written a piece to accompany the display, here is an extract:

"For modern artists, indeterminate operations and conditions have been useful principally for the way they give life to new forms of interpretation, sense-making and order. The work to which Cage gave the programmatic title Indeterminacy is a set of frequently comic stories interrupted by silences, so that each takes a minute to read. The works assembled in this exhibition make use of some modes that Cage employed: notably repetition, transcription, imitation and transformation of sources and givens. The variety of approaches here - including the socially porous, the surreal and the frankly curious - chimes with Cage’s own diversity as an artist.”

Artists: Horst Ademeit, John Cage, Arnaud Desjardin (The Everyday Press), Roger Hiorns, Helen Mirra, Cornelia Parker, Ana Prada, Kathy Prendergast, Dieter Roth, Trevor Shearer, John Smith & Graeme Miller.

le ragazze di John K
21.10.14 - Cristina D'Antonio

John K.: SITTING
Works from the Eric Kroll collection

28. November 2014 – 13. February 2015
Opening: Friday, 28.11., 6 – 9 pm

For the first time, Galerie Susanne Zander I Cologne is showing an exclusive selection of vintage photographs from the collection of photographer Eric Kroll by a formerly unknown artist known only as John K. Dating from around 1959 to 1976 these works show nude, aspiring Tinseltown belles in front of candy-cotton coloured backdrops sitting on unlikely things such as a loaf of bread, a pumpkin or a watermelon resulting in a sublime aesthetic that brings to mind the intimacy of back-room photo session in makeshift home studios in a sun-breached, technicolor LA of days gone. The viewer sees not only the women but also catches a glimpse into John K.'s domestic life. Captions and small details in the photographs confirm that John K. used the photos of his models for his paintings, as well as a source of inspiration for the films, which are also part of this comprehensive oeuvre.

The selection of original vintage photographs in the exhibition “Sitting” comes from a collection of hundreds of John K. works owned by Eric Kroll, himself a well-known fetish photographer, collector and editor of several books on the subject of erotic art and photography.

Das EXPOSED FILM FESTIVAL zeigt diesen Freitag (21.11.2014) in Kooperation mit Köln im Film e.V. im Filmhauskino

SZENARIO
Deutschland 2014, 89'

GQ Italy features "The Erotic Outsider"

Fotografia erotica, l’occhio di 5 outsider
"Ossessionati dalle donne. A volta da una sola. Sconosciuti per (quasi) tutta la vita. Oppure ancora anonimi.

Paris Photo 2014
13 - 16 November 2014

When Morton Bartlett (1909 - 1992) shoots the perfectly staged lifelike dolls he had been making since the 1930s, he captures a mystifying eroticism that becomes alive on photographic paper. Miroslav Tichy's (1926 - 2011) blurred, voyeuristic snapshots bring him closer to his lifetime fascination: woman, his eternal object of desire. In some magical corner of Eugene Von Bruenchenhein's (1910 – 1983) private domesticity he obsessively turns his beloved wife Marie from exotic princess to tinseltown temptress. In “Margret”, Günter K. renders a meticulous documentation with hundreds of notes and photographs of his love affair with his secretary in the late 1960s, thrusting the viewer defenselessly into voyeurism. The anonymous “Type 42” archive is a frantic accumulation of close ups taken of actresses captured from the TV screen in the 60s and 70s and a private encyclopedia of voyeuristic desire.

Galerie Susanne Zander's exhibition project is centered around five positions in outsider photography which explore notions of voyeurism and the object of sexual yearning as a projection “turned to life” through the medium of photography. In their singular portrayal of private eroticism, all five oeuvres lure the spectator into the role of a voyeur.
